Today's button hides a little secret. It is paper not leather. I've been working with faux lather techniques (I've a couple that are my favourite), so I thought I should try to create a button using the technique. I'm quite happy with it. Because it is paper, I've not quite yet sorted it so it will work with all leather buttons, but I reckon you could mimic quite a few styles....

Can you see it? I didn't at first - I just randomly chose the marks to embroider around. 

One to never be repeated, as the marks that make up the face are the result of eco dyeing - logwood chips if I recall correctly. That something I meant to do again this year and time has just slipped away, if anything work is that bit harder during lockdown and restrictions. I'm still doing paperwork at home (it's easier than moving everything back) but my spare room is going to need some filing space soon.

More playing with braids and soutache today! This one has more depth than the image shows - I have padded the centre so it it like an odd little hill from the side. Which actually works quite well. 

Mark dug up potatoes and onions today, so it'll probably be soup for lunch this week.
