Counting down

Not long now!
Today's been a bit about prep. Which includes cutting up some packaging to use as tags for the buttons. A great use for some of the Christmas cardbaord.

I tried to get a different tag die for this year, but none were quite right. My favourite didn't have a hole (though it did have a little die for the hole), and I could just see myself losing it or cutting the hole in the wrong place. In 2016 I actually got two of the dies that I used, so in the end, I've decided to stick with it.

I'm also setting up my file for creating the image so that the info is there, setting up printed labels for the back of the tags, and typing up every name from the last challenge so that I can double check that I don't name one this year the same as before - especially as they will be different buttons!

And this evening, the buttoning begins...

Getting ready ...

Here I am again - getting ready to start another One Button a Day challenge. I must be mad! I've got a lot of ideas, so hopefully I'll manage 366!

My last challenge, in 2016, was actually great fun. It DID challenge me, and I learnt a lot. And best of all, I met so many wonderful artists all over the world who also make buttons. This year, as then, the only rule for me will be that I will make the buttons. And, just to clarify - I won't necessarily make a button a day. If I'm in the mood, and my mojo is with me, then I may make a few at the same time. That should help to cover for the days when other work makes it impossible. But, I will only post one a day.

Here's my button wall, with the first four panels empty. That's four months, give or take. I originally placed the first boards on the wall without any others, which is why the first months are at eye level.

I decided to only empty these because I don't think I could face great black spaces on my wall - I do prefer the colours of the buttons.

And, my old library card drawer set - finally, after many years, a good use for it! Until I finally decide how to store them.

I will be keeping two blogs this year - this one, daily, with each new button. I'll also post these on my other social media outlets - so do follow on Facebook or Instagram. The other blog - ginabsilkworks.blog - will be updated with all other bits and pieces, though probably not quite as often as every day!

I do hope that you'll join me!
