Day 333 : Gothic

Day 333 : Gothic - One Button a Day 2020 by Gina Barrett

Day 333 : Gothic

Today's button is a variation of an earlier button. I first worked the main design a year or so ago, as part of a few for rose windows. I've added additional stitches here to further emphasise the design.

Started on the decorations today. Well, why not! But we've stopped as we need a new string of lights. So we have a part decorated tree at the moment.

Otherwise feeling lazy today. Struggling to do online shopping for everyone on my list. I'll get there in the end.
I do hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

  1. What a beauty! It is another one of those fantastic "how many different buttons can come from changing one thing" efforts - I thought the darker thread was bead until I enlarged the picture. This would be lovely on almost anything but always plain to show off the button texture.
It is after Thanksgiving so you can start trimming the house. Our neighbors are all stringing their outside lights and putting red swags on their new front porch. Lots of people are doing some sort on renovation. Frustrating about the light string - I was always surprised when one actually died. Tracking down the blown bulb used to be a real adventure when every single light had to be replace one at a time until you found the bad bulb. I can hear the tiny sqeek of the metal base as the repair person worked along. We were thrilled when they came up with the 'all but the bad one stay lit' strings. Have fun decorating! It will look the best ever, I am sure.
Do stay warm and well and masked - and keep that hat on! Charlotte xxx

    1. Oh thank you! The worst thing about this sort of button is the time. Have you ever seen Jutta Kohlbeck's buttons? She weaves and stitches and works wonders - they take a minimum of 10 hours each.
Yup, absolutely have to wait until after Thanksgiving! :) Although in normal years we tend to leave it a bit longer. And lights that last - at long last!
Stay safe and well and masked yourselves xxxx
