Day 241 : Eye, eye!

Day 241 : Eye, eye! - One Button a Day 2020 by Gina Barrett

Day 241 : Eye, eye!

Just fancied doing some eyelets! Lots of people really dislike them, I rather like working them. Well, when they "work". Sometimes they do go horribly wrong.

I do hope the weather improves. Not least as I was meant to go to a socially distanced picnic "weather permitting" with the WI tomorrow, our first meeting since the beginning of March. I think that's off. But also because the really bad rain means we have to leave work early. The road we travel home on floods terribly in a few places - as does the alternative route. The only other option is going to the opposite end of the town to work our way back on the A1, and well, who wants to be on the A1 in torrential rain?

Keep safe, those of you in the UK, have a nice Bank Holiday weekend, despite the rain.

  1. OK - this is so cute and so silly! I've been messing with eyelets in some cutwork and they do indeed go hideously wrong when you don't hold your mouth right. Yvette Stanton at White Threads Floss Tube has a neat way of ending off that doesn't damage your hands and needles as much as some methods - take a look. I know you won't get this until after the WI picnic (if it happens) so if you went I hope you got there and home safely. We used to come home from Don's office on the surface streets to avoid "parking" on the homebound equivalent of the A1 and for years there was a stretch that flooded at the slightest hint of moisture. I always kind of held my breath and sat light to help Car get home. They did finally fix the problem so it takes a real downpour to make the gutters fill up. And if you stayed home I hope you had a picnic in the parlor. The Leek button is lovely - looking forward 1017 1/2! And I am the one to give thanks for your writing while twirling house, business, spouse, Toby and life all in the air at once. You are the only person I visit regularly and the only person I've gotten brave enough to talk to so it means a lot. Stay dry and well. C in C xxx

    1. Oh thanks so much! It's lovely hearing from you :) . I will check that method out - it is always nice learning a new clever technique. Sadly, no picnic, to be expected really. Most of our members are really quite a bit older and many have actually been shielding since March. Sitting out in a damp field would not have been healthy! And I did have a picnic sort of - treated myself to a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. :) Stay safe!

  2. I just google streetviewed the road to Grantham - I can see the puddles in the laybys and the drainage ditches. I'll bet the locals all sported waterwings just a few hundred years ago. Travel safely. xx

    1. The road we follow is the old Roman road - I suspect in times past it was far better maintained, lol! I don't it though. In Leicestershire & Rutland, the farmers dig out ditches along all of the roads. Nothing like here in Lincolnshire - and that's part of the issue. There is honestly no where for the water to go. xxx
